Reconstruction of tramway starts in city center of Tallinn

On Monday, April 7, the traffic will be closed on nr 3 and nr 4 tram lines on Pärnu highway section from Vabaduse Square to Tondi and the first phase of tramway reconstruction will begin. 

Major work to be performed in the framework of the contract will be the renovation of the tram tracks of tram line no. 4 and renovation of the Pärnu road depot tracks along with transferring the tracks to a concrete base, complete replacement of the OCL from Tondi to Ülemiste and Kadriorg, as well as upgrading six traction substations. Following that, the tram tracks will be extended to the Peterburi tee 2 plot, where a tram turnaround loop will be built.


Tramway construction and repairs will cost 26 million euros and the contract was awarded to consortium of AS Merko Ehitus Eesti, KMG Inseneriehituse AS and Ratatek OY.
